It seems like rather an imposing Recommended. A while back I started to read two books at the same time – Sanctorum Communio by Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Either/Or, Part 1 by Soren Kierkegaard. Gurgioli's longtime obsession with Kierkegaard's “A Seducer's Diary,” from the book Either/Or by the nineteenth century Danish philosopher. What's your feeling on that, given that your writing at the time seemed to blend a lot of these elements, well before we had any discourse on the ostensible uniqueness of such hybridization? My father-in-law, though, has quite an impressive collection of books. I've been spending most of my free time either reading the great books or riding my bike around town. What impact did philosopher Kierkegaard have toward Existentialism? €�Either/Or” by Soren Kierkegaard, abridged and translated by Alastair Hannay. I feel a thinker shows genius if he or she is either able to provide you a tool which enables you to understand more of the world around you, or a question mark that primes you to question the same world and its mechanisms. I've read portions of Either/Or and Fear and Trembling but I'm most interested in Kierkegaard's specifically Christian works penned under the pseudonym of Anti-Climacus. Whatever is to be said for or against him, Kierkegaard Since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, his works, which emphasize human passions and the unassailable integrity of the individual, have experienced a new international wave of popularity in Eastern Europe and China, among other places. His writings comprise the first portion of Either/Or, often categorized as the “aesthetic” portion, as A is an aesthete and represents the aesthetic stage of existence. This section might prove useful for other thinkers, but in Kierkegaard's particular case I think it might be better to actually provide a brief discussion of his major pseudonyms. €�The thing is to find a truth which is true for me, to find the idea for which I can live and die" (A journal writing on August 1, 1835, by Philosopher Kierkegaard). This is the way, I suppose, the world will come to an end – amid the universal hilarity and applause of wits and wise guys who think it's all just a joke. Gurgioli composed the music specifically for The Dialtones, collectively under the title Calculated Carelessness, based upon the various characteristics of Kierkegaard's writing, utilizing deconstructed lines from the story as lyrics. I have a moderately sized collection of books. The very best works of philosophy, things like Kierkegaard's Either/Or or Nietzsche's Twilight of the Idols, don't occupy a separate category in my brain as “Great Books comma philosophy”; they stand on their own merits as truly great works.
